Random: With a Purpose

Random: With a Purpose is the department’s annual student dance showcase. Collaboratively student-run and student-created, Random has been providing students with the opportunity to choreograph, dance in, and produce collective performances since 1991.

Dancer and choreographer audition information is posted on the department’s Auditions page.

Auditions usually take place the quarter BEFORE the production, separate from General Auditions. Auditions are usually held in fall for the winter show.

Students who are accepted via audition enroll in THEA 139 in winter quarter, the same quarter as the production. THEA 139 fulfills an upper division elective requirement for the Dance Minor or Theater Arts major, or an upper division studio requirement for the Theater Arts minor.
