Advising

PPD Advising

Welcome!

Department-based* major/minor academic advisors work with you throughout your time in their program(s) to help you create an academic plan for their program(s), choose classes, understand degree and declaration requirements, and help inform you about opportunities available in the department. They can also answer some questions that are not specific to their programs, and when they don’t have an answer they will refer you to an office that can help!

* Non-Departmental Advising

For undergraduates, your college advising office also provides important guidance. You may go to them with non-major/minor-specific questions, such as questions about GEs, late withdrawals from a class, a leave of absence, etc. View college advising contacts.

Graduate students will interact with the Graduate Division regarding grad orientation, certain required trainings, etc. You will be contacted by Grad Div via email for actions that they require.

In addition to working with your department academic advisor, it is important to be in contact with faculty, who serve as mentors. Ladder rank faculty are here to help you with the direction of your work, and to give you ideas about possibilities after completing your B.A. Keep them informed of what you are doing and discuss your work and interests with them.
